[Homestead] Our digital trail - "Orwellian future"

Ya know, I've been thinking about this and the computerized receipts and so
forth. I used to manage one of the Kroeger owned mini-marts (Quik Stop) and
we were computerized. The details are linked to inventory and they shoot
totals at the end of the day. (Most aren't "real time" but rather "batch
runs") The only tape that is kept is the days totals and those are run by
category, so all fertilizers would come up with "a" total. It would be
broken down to nitrogen fertilizer, phosporous fertilizer and so forth and
so on.
The family store is computerized and it is run the same way.
The only way to track those sales would be via credit card OR if someone
knew or remembered the person who bought the fertilizer.
