[Homestead] Microwave, was Doesn't matter

O.K., so I am doing as you say and looking to find answers. Anyone know
anything about microwave internet access?

As I've mentioned in the past, my internet access is via a landline that was
put in sometime in the early 70s, maybe late 60s. No upgrades since that
time. If there were a word for slower than slow, that would apply to our
internet.

A few days ago the guy up on the hill comes down and asks if he can use one
of our trees for an antenae for microwave internet. We stand around carping
about the misery we all experience with Verizon, the WORST phone service in
the world, the daily "ghost" calls and picking up the phone to hear someone
else talking.

We talk a little about microwave and he says it is supposed to be faster and
more reliable than satellite. Then he mentions the magic number, $30/month!

Sooooo, all ye much more cyber knowledgeable folks, what know ye about
microwave? The only thing I've heard is that the Coast Guard has been using
it but they have had problems when there's a high tide. Which, needless to
say, is not something I have to worry about <g>
