Bingo. For my little East Wing multi-use room I recycled sliding glass
that is discolored from when the seals failed. Bought those pieces
about thirty years ago for ten dollars each. My next project, a master
suite, will use new insulated replacement glass units. I find nothing
else that beats them for price per square foot. Nothing wrong with
looks that framing and muntins can't cure.

As for sliding glass doors being "out," I am hot for large pocket
doors that open up a wall, for instance from a living room to a porch.
With four such doors an entire wall can disappear. With muntins you
can call them French doors and perhaps make wives happy.
