[Homestead] Ducks or geese epa rated stove, or 1-35 cheapo cast iron stove

The EPA approved stoves have low particulate emissions, use less wood, 
have much less cresote buildup etc., nice view of flames, longer burn 
time ... less smoke in the house, but cost mucho money ... and how long 
do the stainless steel secondary burning units and high tech composite 
boards last? 

The cast-iron epa 'exempt ' stoves are reasonable ($250.00 compared to $ 
900-$2000)  and have higher btu output when one wants it.

A lot of energy and time has gone into the manufacture of the modern 
stoves as well, which should probably be factored in. My time as well, 
to earn the dough to pay for it.

If everybody was using the 1-35 stoves, well, real problems.  What has 
been your experience and reasoning behind the wood stoves you all use?
