NPR did a story about how the US rice crop may have been contaminated:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6734070.
At this point, I'm thinking that getting serious about saving seeds is
a good and perhpas necessary thing. Plus, I think that letting certain
genes loose in the environment is way too dangerous until a way to
control them can be established (which may not be possible).
Do I expect that better controls will be established? Maybe -- since
the rice debacle shows that there are big financial losses involved if
it isn't done.
