[Homestead] basement hollow block - worth insulating?

Hey Jerry,
Sure. I've used a couple types of insulation in block walls, perlite 
works good and is easy if you can get to the cavity. Rent a hopper and 
blower and use blown-in insulation if not. Here's a link to a site about 
using perlite with a chart showing the change in R-value:
