A mind-staggering amount of mental and physical work, heavy investment
in land, growing, harvesting equipment, the winery itself and tastings
galore, all the many aspects of successful marketing of a new label.
But many vintners have succeeded, not just in California, but Finger
Lakes. Some failures too, three or four years ago the landowner tore up
a good vineyard near Roanoke, Virginia---just too much to cope with.
