Hi all,
I have been using some perl scripts with SQL 2000 for a while now and
our organisation is looking to use 2005 in the near future.
The only way I can get a connection to SQL 2005 is to lower my TDS
version to 7.0.
This does not help me as I require the BIGINT functionality that exists
with 8.0
The SQL 2000 server is virtuoso, 2005 is bunny.
[virtuoso]
host = virtuoso.boh.ngv.local
port = 1433
tds version = 8.0
[bunny]
host = bunny.boh.ngv.local
port = 1433
tds version = 7.0
if I change the TDS version to 8.0 then there is a huge pause before
failing. I have tested the SQL authentication with other tools such as
the SQL 2000 Query analyser.
my script (db-test2.pl) is:
use DBI;
$dbh = DBI->connect("dbi:Sybase:server=bunny", "sa" , "sapasswd" ,
{PrintError => 0,
RaiseError => 0,
PrintWarn => 0,
AutoCommit => 0 });
print "Unable to connect\n" unless defined( $dbh );
push( @I_Errors , "DBI Error: " . $DBI::errstr ) if ( $DBI::err );
if ( @I_Errors ) {
foreach ( @I_Errors ) {
chomp;
print "$_\n";
}
exit 127;
}
when run:
[aclark at chromium common]$ ./db-test2.pl
#### Insert long wait here ####

Any ideas?
Cheers
