I"m getting strange situation connecting to a mssql2000
Two machines, both LInux boxes, both with pymssql 0.8.0, and both using the
same sample script.
con = pymssql.connect(user="sa", password="password", host="IPaddress",
cur = con.cursor();
cur.execute("select * from Department");
The only difference is that one is a slightly newer gcc build
Python 2.4.3 (#1, Jun 13 2006, 11:46:08)
[GCC 4.1.1 20060525 (Red Hat 4.1.1-1)] on linux2
When initially running the import pymssql command on the machine described
above, it was complaining about not finding the libsybdb.so.5 module, so I
created a symlink in the /usr/lib folder pointing to the
libsybdb.so.5module which was installed in the /usr/local/lib folder.
When I run this script on the machine described above I get this error
_mssql.error: DB-Lib error message 20009, severity 9:
Python 2.4.3 (#1, Jun 13 2006, 16:41:18)
[GCC 4.0.2 20051125 (Red Hat 4.0.2-8)] on linux2
On the machine described above however, there was no need to create the
symlink, and the script returns the department data.
Both machines are not running firewalls, both can ping that IPaddress and
both are in the same subnet and there is no restrictions between the
Do I need to create a further symlink to allow the suthentication to work?
I haven't edited freetds.conf on either machine.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
