[freetds] [nativecode=00000 "ÂÁ@] error when doing query

I am wondering if it might be related to multiple connections being open/persistent connections/multiple result sets. The code is doing something like this:

1. Return various rows
2. Iterate over them
3. If a certain field is not null, call a function which runs another select to get a value based on that field
4. Add the value to that particular row

(I'm aware that I could do this with a left join)

How can I enable TDSDUMP? I've read http://www.freetds.org/userguide/logging.htm

And done
export TDSDUMP="/tmp/freetds.log"
export TDSDUMPCONFIG=""

However, I'm seeing nothing in the /tmp/freetds.log file, whether I run queries through isql or PHP.

Probably you are in the right place... this should be cause by our ODBC
that return SQL_ERROR without setting an error. This should cause the
garbage print you have. Is difficult however to understand the error...
one option is that server close connection. If you are able to reproduce
the error a TDSDUMP would be helpful.
