work? I bet it doesn't. Is there a firewall in between?
If the address were invalid or the server were listening on a different
port, you'd get an immediate failure. The fact that there's a 5-minute
pause says to me the server accepted the connection, but couldn't transmit
it back to the client.
(Excellent detail in your problem report, by the way, if I may say so.)
