+1 here for removing read/write validation into FileValidator.

The support for cygwin has not been tested on my side. I need to install 
cygwin on my machine to do some tests. However, I have no experience with 
this platform. Also, I never tested the installation of the distribution 
package (tar.gz) on Linux.
