Hi, List Members: SONG STORM is a nonprofit project of Open Studios, a
501(c)(3) organization located in Reno, Nevada, USA. The theme is a
running contest where contestants submit their favorite playlist, or set
of songs, and win a prize.
The idea is to bring listeners, stations and artists together in a
meaningful way. Catch: only independent artists willing to license
their works in a way that lets others download and share their songs,
such as through the Creative Commons Project at
http://www.creativecommons.org. So, listeners submit their sets of
favorite songs, the playlists are displayed with links to songs, and to
stations that play the songs or similar music. Station dj's can use the
site as a resource for music not encumbered by RIAA issues. Both
stations and artists can get increased exposure, and draw listeners from
around the globe.
The vision is to have a global contest, regional and local contests from
SONG STORM to each station running their own contests, all going on at
once. This produces a real nice connection between listeners, fan
clubs, artists, stations around the world. Should be a good foundation
to move the web stations into the general public's consciousness.
Anyone willing to help "seed" the project by working with us to set up
the station directory? We need your logo, link, brief description (50
words or less), and ideas of what you want included in your directory
listing. Take a look at test pages:
http://www.ibiblio.org/studioforrecording/php/testhomeplaylist.php
Playlist criteria:
song title and link to file
artist name and link to home page
There's a tips page you can check out by visiting our site map to link
to it. Hope to hear your ideas. Share your reaction with the other
list members, if you want. Let's work together to make this
interesting.
Thanks,
Tom Poe
