Hello everyone, in fact, there are fresh news on the conference front,
I just got an email a couple of days ago that the conference can be
held at Stanford in early August. The dates that were given to me were
Aug 6-8, but need to double check that first as it was initially
planned to have it on a weekend, Sunday included, but Aug 6-8 is Thu-
Sat. In any case, this took a while because it required the
coordination of a few parties, mostly people at the Stanford Center
for Internet and Society who will provide some logistic support and
Lessig himself who wanted to make sure he has time to attend. One can
imagine given his busy schedule that this was not so easy to achieve.
So, those of us who are interested in organizing the conference can
now work on the CFP, which can build on the old one, available still
here: http://commonsresearch.wikidot.com/call
Perhaps a couple of you, say for example Juan Carlos and Prodromos (as
you guys have shown a strong interest during and after the workshop
last year), as well as Larry (who will be hosting the conference so
should be kept informed) can work with me to produce a first draft of
a revised CFP and then circulate it on this list for more feedback? Of
course all are welcome to provide inputs, I'm just thinking about how
to stage this so as to be more efficient and get it out quicker - last
year the amount of emails I sent around was enormous and I don't have
that kind of bandwidth this year - which is fine I think because we've
already been through the process once, so this time it should be easier.
Can you let me have a first go at the revised CFP this week and then
share with you?
