Posters and banners in lobbies, presentations at schools, inviting kids
to tour your mapping facilities, a landmark scavenger hunt (great idea
from City of Salisbury!) … and whatever you can think of to celebrate
GIS Day 2005 on November 16th. Perhaps a geocache hunt on your own web
mapping site? Lots of ideas (so little time), but anything you do will
make a difference!
Please join with thousands of your peers across the nation to promote
the technology you use every day in conducting the business of
government. If you haven’t registered your activities, please sign up
on the GIS Day web site. www.gisday.com and add your event to the North
Carolina list.
Also, the 2005 version of the GISLiveNC webcast with streaming video
(uses “free” Real Player) can tune in TUESDAY, November 15 from 9 am to
1 pm, on www.gislivenc.net . The theme: Open Spaces, Wild Places.
Presentations using the North Carolina Managed Lands map viewer, a
geocache hunt for remarkable places, tracking tundra swans, invasive
species…and much more from students and teachers. Please visit the web
site, check the schedule, then tune in. And, if you can set up a
computer in a busy lobby area, that would be excellent, too. Happy GIS
Days.
