Rosemary St. in Chapel Hill) the night before (Sat. Jan 9th) and later
that night (Sun Jan 10th) at 7 PM, with doors opening at 6:30. Read on
for more info!

THE COMPANY: *Insurgent Theatre*
Radical touring theatre company's newest production, ULYSSES' CREWMEN
confronts audiences with political action at an intractable impasse.
This complex original work about the political kidnapping of a US
delegate is currently on it's second tour, an odyssey of the northeast
and southwest, performing in non-traditional spaces from New York to
Texas.

THE SHOW: *Ulysses' Crewmen*
A militant dissenter abuses her hostage from the US delegation while
faintly aware of the audience surrounding her. This claustrophobic
scene creates a space for radical introspection, defiant theatre and
tactical conversations. With only a few props, two actors, one of who
is bound and gagged, and a serious commitment to DIY politics,
Insurgent Theatre refutes ancient dogmas found in Homer's Odyssey and
examines the psychosexual underpinnings of empire and rebellion.

THE DISCUSSION: *DIY Theatre, Radical Communication, and Revolution*
Insurgent Theatre will discuss anarchist theory, forms of resistance
and the role DIY theatre plays in this. Through face to face
discussion, Brechtian aesthetic techniques and a full commitment to
radical economic forms, Insurgent believes theatre can be first, a
superior means of communication and discourse, and second, a
revolutionary mode of production. They are interested in seeing how
these ideas resonate with different people all over the place.
