Update:
I've been in touch with a guy from ASCAP, and he's
been really prompt and enthusiastic about answering my
questions. At the moment, I'm leaning heavily towards
going through the soul crushing experience of
switching from BMI to ASCAP.
The main reason is that ASCAP is a one year contract
for everything, while BMI is two years for writing and
five years for publishing.
This guy emailed me within a day while it took the BMI
rep four days to return my phone call. He also claims
that they pay out more, but I don't care about 15
cents. I do care that ASCAP seems more active in the
music community, particularly with those myspace
folks.
Email me if you would like for me to forward my
correspondence with ASCAP.
