Off With Their Heads outta Minneapolis (home of blisterin' rock n'
roll) have played here previously and it was a most incredible show.
Their sound is that of porch sittin, cheap beer sippin, awkward high
school flirtin, back road joy ridin, summer fun all shoved into an
approximately sixteen minute set. Think the early, raw anthems of the
Dillinger 4 and you're getting warm. These guys are not to miss, since
they're on the sure track to becoming classics. They grew up in
MINNEAPOLIS, how can you not make amazing music having grown up there??
I believe they just enlisted the help of Panthro UK's guitarist.
Pretty Boy Thornson also are on tour from Minneapolis with the OWTH
dudes. Remember back to the days when country and punk decided to get
married and 2-step mayhem occurred? We saw such greats as Jason & the
Nashville Scorchers and Rank & File come outta nowhere and take our
hearts by storm. Well, I guess I wasn't there, but I found it later on.
Anyway, now, these days, No Idea Records has picked up the banner and
they're pushing their renovated style of country punk, err, cowpunk.
Pretty Boy Thorson plays a style that would fit perfectly on No Idea's
roster of bleeding heart country punk. Give 'em a listen, you won't
know whether to sing along, cry or just shuffle yer dancin feet back to
the bar. These guys are playing first or second so get here early.
They're right up our alley, I promise.
The Veldas are the new face to Durham's attempt to save rock'n'roll.
Geez, we're getting to be quite the city, we've got something of an
arsenal if I do say so myself. They play a supercharged, blown out rock
that sometimes sounds like a distorted, fuzzed-out PJ Harvey crackling
through the speakers. They're an explosive duo who have made Joe & Jo's
downtown their home, stage and outlet. Melodies, haunting riffs and
sadness creep across their lips and through their fingers. Not to be
missed! Catch 'em while they're still raw and angry!
See ya out!
