The Jim Gardner I know is from here; he only moved to Asheville 10 years 
or so ago & surely he'll come to his senses any day now & move back. ;-)

Actually, I only barely knew Jim; we both wrote about music around here 
at the same time, in the early 90s, but then he packed up & headed west. 
  At this point it's probably safer to say that at one time we knew *of* 
each other.

I have reconsidered the tattoo, by the way; I'm thinking pinkish-red ink 
that says "if you can read this, your tip is safe."
