On much of what matters here, we may differ only in emphasis. I agree
that the CC badges that say only "some rights reserved" without
providing the license elements were unfortunate. So too is the practice
of saying "a Creative Commons license" without saying which one. I
would like to see a greater emphasis by CC in encouraging licensors to
be fully descriptive about which license they are using.
The goal of easy searchability for content licensed under particular
licenses is something that we all hope will be better achieved as
metadata annotations and search tools improve.
