No - it only gave Klein a monopoly on _that particular method_ of 
manufacturing the pigment, if someone else had come up with a different 
method, a different technical solution to the problem, they could have 
filed for a patent of their own. Klein never had a monopoly on that 
exact blue, he had a monopoly on a specific method of manufacturing a 
certain blue colour.
