I find this an interesting thought.

So, I license a photo BY-SA and put a (C) drew Roberts, 2007 in the lower 
right corner of the photo.

Now, the license allows derivatives. But the "keep intact all copyright 
notices for the Work" language means that someone can't make a derivative 
which only uses the upper left portion of the photo, or the center portion of 
the photo.

And if everyone puts such notices on the photos themselves, collages from such 
photos will look really nice.
