Dear all,

I read this thread and found it a common problem in email groups. My
suggestion is to do preventive measures

1. Some people do not like, but using a normal user account rather than
an administrator account helps a lot in reducing malware infection. The
installation of malware cannot change system kernel. When you need to
install software, switch to administrator account.
I know Linux, Windows Vista and MacOS prompts you to authenticate as
administrator during software installation and it is quite useful.

2. Install security tools, (Internet security suite is worth).

3. Turn on Auto-Update for security patches and anti-virus. Some AV
software provides more than one updates per day.

4. On data protection, do backup data. If you have sensitive data on
notebook, encrypt them on hard disk.

5. In case of problem, use the HKCERT hotline 8105-6060. It is free of
charge.

If you want free software for AV, firewall and data encryption, I can
provide a list but they are limited to personal and non-commercial use.

Regards,
SC Leung
