Not neccessarily. There are processes which produce multiple masters
simultaneously as the artist works. Trivial examples being things like
mechanical arrangements that cut four copies of a wooden turning as the
craftsman guides the cutting tool.
(And if you are wondering why this is useful it means you can cut things
like ad-hoc design table legs and the set always matches...)
