Hi all,

first let me apologize for cross-posting ;)

The Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit[1] here at the IT
University of Gotheburg from Oct. 24th to 26th is almost upon us :)

I was on holiday the past two weeks and when I got back I discovered
that a lot had changed or been finalized.

The schedule[2] for example now shows all 4 tracks with their respective
speakers and topics as well as the times.

As FSCONS tries to bridge between Free Culture, Free Software and Free
Content so does its content. It contains Free Software development
topics such as "Coreboot" (Peter Stuge) and "QT for embedded systems"
(Johan Thelin), just as much as Free Culture topics like "Digital
Commons throughout history" (Eva Hemmungs Wirtén) and Copyright in an
Historical Perspective (Rasmus Fleischer).

Other highlights include:

Amarok2 – in the intersection between free software and free culture
Nikolaj Hald Nielsen

How far behind is free+open culture
Mike Linksvayer

Open Access - Free journals and books for all
Jan Szczepanski

The End of Free Communications?
Oscar Swartz

The future of Copyright
panel discussion (so far confirmed:Henrik Moltke, Rasmus Fleischer,
Johan Söderberg)

Sqeezing the Evil out of the Music industry
John Buckman

Arduino
David Cuartielles

and

Free Software and the Freedom of Creation
Denis Jaromil Rojo

Get a full list here[3]

The schedule also contains a Creative Commons Workshop where we will try
to explore the implications and mysteries about Creative Commons
licensing with the audience. It is aimed at all levels, from "first time
licensee" to advanced "culture activist".

Together with Free Software Foundation Europe and Wikimedia Sverige, we
hope to welcome as many of you as possible and we hope to use FSCONS to
strengthen our connection and build new ties.

The registration-page can be found here[4] and group discounts are
available, please send an email to adm at fscons.org for further
information on the group discounts.

Regards,

Mathias Klang
Project Lead Creative Commons Sweden.
