Hi,
I am hoping that someone can help me with chosing the right online app
for a project I am starting. It's called "Open the book" - we will be
making available online, under free licenses, significant Polish
academic books that are out-of-prints, and the rights for which are
often with their authors.
We are currently thinking about the right way to make these books
available. Since the project is supposed to have promotional merit for
free culture, we feel that a simple repository - based for instance on
dSpace or ePrints (or potentially on ccMixter) - is not sufficient.
Optimally, we'd like to provide the experience of working with the text
online as well.
This is done by Google Books of course, and by Open Library - but both
seem to be using technologies that are not openly available.
I will be greatful for any advice on what software to use - optimally
free software. I'm hoping someone on the list might have experience with
such projects.
All the best,
Alek
