Hey Brenda,
ASCAP collect for works when they come up within their system. I
was under the impression that ASCAP place no restrictions on the way
that anybody license what they create. I asked ascap if i could use a
Creative Commons licenses and also if other organizations could sub-
license content royalty free. The only response i have got so far
from ASCAP is this link. http://www.ascap.com/rights/billText.aspx
The attribution conditions for content (from my point of view) mean
that works can be licensed under any attribution creative commons
license, no problem. Rights organizations issue licenses for use of
content without attribution. I can't see any problem for these
licenses to run in conjunction with each other. Yet maybe ASCAP do?
ASCAP might be having problems working out how to come to terms with
the license, some people within ASCAP might not understand how the
license works.
best,
Jamison
