I don't know too much about US/UK copyright law, but ...

... isn't it enough of a copyright notice if you say:

"(cc) copyright 2008 held by Greg London, licensed under Creative
Commons BY-NC-ND" ??

That would avoid the clash of (c) and (cc) as symbols.
