The original composition could be licensed By (or another non-copyleft
free license). Then one performance might be By or By-SA, but another
might be released under a more restrictive license.

Alternatively, the original composition could be dual-licensed, so that
the By-SA track uses it under a By-SA license, while the
restrictively-licensed performance licenses it under a separate license.

Finally, of course, if you are the owner of the By-SA-licensed original
compositions, *you* are free to make non-free derivatives (which is
really just a special case of the dual-license case).

Seems quite feasible to me.
