Indeed but the use cases may be as varied as the different disiciplines.
This is problematic because where "derivative" is useful because it is
singular in its meaning in other cases (say, source code),  when we throw it
out and try to come up with use-specific definitions of what would invoke
copyleft, we end up wtih a lot of hardcoded special cases. Which is no way
to design a system, legal or otherwise.
