Valuable point, Fred.
Something odd about this situation is that some of my musician pals
are passionate fans of the collecting societies and will perceive this
as being not just insane but outright offensive. The need for
opposition to copyright extremism creates a weird political rift
between the musicians, who are usually apolitical.
