Those in Melbourne over the weekend might want to check out Remix My Lit's exciting live remixing event (http://www.mwf.com.au/2008/content/mwf_2008_events.asp?name=3099).

As part of the Melbourne Writers' Festival, from 3:30-4:30pm on Saturday (30 September), the Big Screen in Federation Square will be dedicated to the live multimedia remix of RML stories. Tales by authors such as Cate Kennedy<http://www.mwf.com.au/2008/content/mwf_2008_events.asp?name=KennedyC>, James Phelan<http://www.mwf.com.au/2008/content/mwf_2008_events.asp?name=PhelanJ>, Kim Wilkins<http://www.mwf.com.au/2008/content/mwf_2008_events.asp?name=WilkinsK> and Danielle Wood<http://www.mwf.com.au/2008/content/mwf_2008_events.asp?name=WoodD> will be stretched, tweaked, mashed and generally brought to life in a live set by A/V artist M<http://michela.thequality.com/>.

Best of all, you can be involved too. Bring along your laptop computer or mobile phone, or just join in from the comfort of your own home, and try your hand at re-imagining the stories, which will be up on the screen and available on the RML website (http://www.remixmylit.com). Send your remixed short story or flash fiction to the SMS TV system at Federation Square (details available on the day) or post them to the RML website and your work will become part of the remix pool for the big screen.

All works contributed during the event will also be considered for publication in the RML print anthology, giving emerging writers the enviable opportunity to showcase their work alongside established Australian authors.
If you're really interested in remixing text, you can go along to the RML Master Class being held as part of the Festival at the Immigration Museum from 9am-11am tomorrow (Friday 29 September - http://www.mwf.com.au/2008/content/mwf_2008_events.asp?name=2993). It's free, but places are limited, so you should get in fast.
