Hmm. I'm favoring the "accidental" explanation. The whole site is in
subtle shades of gray, and the attribution is darker (#e2e2e2 versus
#eeeeee) than the form box below it. I personally can read it okay,
although it's lighter than is comfortable to read. It's in the same size
font as the article. If the designer had wanted it to be invisible, they
could've made it a lot worse.
OTOH, the attribution is different from the attribution used on other
pages on the site. They normally use a smaller and darker font (of
course, the larger and bolder the font is, the more faint it can be and
still be readable). Your best tactic is probably to start by asking why
they chose not to use their usual attribution font for your article.
The reason why I think the motivation matters is because if it was not
intentional, then it should be easy to rectify.
