I was just led to this website
http://www.publicintegrity.org/telecom/search/default.aspx?zip=53706
and here's what it says:
"The datasets in Media Tracker are licensed under a modified Creative
Commons license. You may SHARE and REPRODUCE these datasets as long
as you provide ATTRIBUTION to the Center for Public Integrity and do
so for NON-COMMERCIAL uses."
So what's curious? Well, the datasets that they're talking about are
just a compilation of
facts. They're not creative expression. So what's the deal with a
CC license? Copyright
doesn't apply to facts. Does the license mean anything at all?
Let me put it this way. I make a copy of their facts and use them
for commercial purposes,
What can they do about it?
Does saying that their facts are offered under their (modified)
license override my rights
under copyright law?
