Dear all,
We want to share with all of you the information of the inauguration of
Panda Punk Labs in Chillán City, Chile. We're very happy because this is
how the sharing works:

Because the indemnification received by the violation of a Creative
Commons license -the first case in Chile and latinamerica- yesterday
(Monday) was inaugurated the "Panda Punk Lab", who benefits more than
200 students of the E-120 "María Saavedra" School, Chillán.

While the ceremony, the Director of Studies of NGO Derechos Digitales,
Alberto Cerda, emphasize how this donation ratifies the validity of the
CC licenses to share and spread intellectual works, and protect it of
non authorized uses.

The case born in April of 2007, when designer Armando Torrealba realized
one of his works -a panda bear drawing with pink punk hair- was used by
a retail store for publicity aim without his authorization. After NGO
Derechos Digitales intervention, the enterprise indemnified the
professional with an non specificated amount, in part destined to the
implementation of this laboratory.

The informatic lab is valuated in 3.380USD and consists in 7 computers,
a printer, a photographic camera and a router. Moreover, each PC is
equipped by an Ubuntu Linux operating system more special educational
software, installed by Linux Chillán Community.

After to show the commemorative plaque of the Lab, Victor Roca, E-120
School director, thanks the contribution, and say this will benefit not
just scholars and professors of the School, but his fathers as well who
don't have resources to get a personal computer at home.

Luis Alvarez, representing Linux Chillán Community, highlight the sense
of sharing knowledge, announcing professors and student of E-120 School
will be trained on free software use by a group of student of San José
Parish School, who were benefit with a similar laboratory last year with
Linux Chillán support.
