For wikis, it's great. For Vinismo, we have this as part of our regular
license agreement. So when the 3.0 version of CC-BY-SA Canada comes out,
we can change the whole site at once -- without waiting for edits of
pages to trigger the derivative-works clause.
Another case would be flickr.com or similar media-sharing sites. Flickr
does this anyways, even though I as a user don't give them permission
to.

You're probably right. It's useful in some situations, though.
