Dear all,
As many of you may know, this December Commoners around the world will be
celebrating the 5th Birthday of Creative Commons. So far, we've heard about
brilliant CC at 5 parties in San
Fransisco<http://creativecommons.org/weblog/entry/7855>,
Seoul <http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Birthday_Party_2007_Seoul>,
Brisbane<http://wiki.creativecommons.org/CCau_Birthday_BBQ_Bash>,
Berlin <http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Birthday_Party_2007_Berlin>,<http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Birthday_Party_2007_Berlin>and
rumors about events in several other locations. If you're throwing one
of these events, help us firm up plans by adding your party to [1]
wiki<http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Birthday_Party_2007>.
The first of the global celebrations will be kicked off on Dec. 14 at the CC at 5
Party in Berlin.<http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Birthday_Party_2007_Berlin>If
you're in the area, we would love for you to join us at
c-base <http://www.c-base.org/> (Rungestraße 20, Berlin-Mitte 10179) for an
evening dedicated to presentations on CC projects, discussions, film
screenings, and more. Plus we'll be serving a HUGE birthday cake while
jamming out to live CC-licensed DJ sets and visualizations from 21:11 until
the last man is standing. We hope you can come!
If you're not able to make it one of these global birthday bashes, then
don't fret. You can still:
- catch some of the action in Second Life,
- plug into the digital trail (flickr photos, videos, etc.) under the
tag "CCBday5",
- and watch Gilberto Gil's live performance from San Francisco on Air
Mozilla <http://air.mozilla.com/>.
Just remember: a local birthday party doesn't have to be big and wild --
just grab some friends, pour a drink, and toast to five happy CC years &
many more to come!
Very truly yours,
CC/CCi Team
[1] Note about editing the wiki: A user's email must be "verified" before
they can edit. This involves sending the user an email with a special link,
the user then checks their mail, clicks on the link and they are then
verified and can edit pages.
For the user's that are unable to edit, they should login to the wiki an
then in the right column there is a link that says "My preferences". Follow
this link, and on the default page is the "Profile" page, and near the
bottom is a section title "Email." If the user is verified, then it should
say so, if not there should be a link that will step them through the
process of verifying their account.
