[cc-community] CC and picture rights in a physics textbook

Thank you for the answers about my previous question.
In my free physics text I have included many photographs;
I have permission from the copyright holders
to use them in a freely downloadable pdf.
The copyright holder's name and copyright is included
below each picture.
The rest of the 1500 pages is copyright by myself.
Is is ok to put the whole text under a CC licence,
or do I need to restrict the licence to the non-picture part,
in order to protect the copyright holders of the
pictures as much as possible?
