How much revenue one potentially "loses", depends upon the medium that
one works in.
* A musician in a band loses very little revenue by releasing material
under any CC licence;
* A composer in that band, OTOH, loses most of their revenue stream, by
releasing a song under any CC licence;
* A playwright loses most of their revenue, by releasing material under
any CC licence;
* A choreographer loses very little of their revenue, by releasing their
material under any CC licence; (The moves, as a general rule of thumb,
aren't copyrightable. The props are.)
* A poet loses very little revenue with any CC licence;
* A writer of text books loses their entire revenue stream by using a
CC-BY-SA licence;
* A visual artists loses most of their revenue stream using a CC-BY-SA
licence;
The CC Licences do not lend themselves to direct monetization.
They are more useful as marketing devices, with the product being "here
is a sample", and the hope for a contract that generates revenue.
