I can say especially looking at my older projects which were "somehow
freeware, do what you want" stuff (opentrivia.com for instance), that
I'm happy to have found the various CC-licenses. This give me a
quick-to-link to yet bulletproof and easy to recognize/ understand
licensing mechanism. Previously I had to hunt down fitting licenses,
or create licenses on my own with wordings like "do this but don't do
this", which I'm sure weren't 100% easy to use licenses. For starters,
you had to *read* through my license. With CC, oftentime those who
republish your work simply *recognize* the CC license, as they read
through it before.
