You have to separate the copyright law from the
way corporate record companies do business with
their musicians.
Copyright allows me to publish on demand,
charge people per copy, and everyone has
the understanding that they won't copy
my work, wont distribute it, and wont
create deriviatives.
Just because music labels don't do that
is not a problem with copyright law.
