[Cc-ca] Creative Commons on CBC/Radio Canada?

Hi. I'm not Canadian, but I've lived in Montreal for a few years, so I
act like I own the place.

Anyways, my question concerns the CBC/Radio Canada family of fine media
products. As I understand it, CBC/Radio Canada is a crown corporation
that operates with the funding and the blessing of the federal
government. This funding helps CBC/Radio Canada concentrate on
high-quality cultural and informational media -- to the benefit of all
Canadians.

My question is: would Canadians also benefit from Creative Commons or
CC-like licenses on CBC/Radio Canada copyrighted material? Current
broadcasts? Archived broadcasts and other archived material (cf. the BBC
Creative Archive http://creativearchive.bbc.co.uk/ )?

If so, is there an organization that advocates this point to CBC/Radio
Canada and/or the federal government?

If not, should there be?
