And one more piece of news:

Professor Brian Fitzgerald, CCau lead, has been named as a member<http://gov2.net.au/members/> of a new Government 2.0 Taskforce<http://gov2.net.au/> launched at Public Sphere #2: Government 2.0: Policy and Practice<http://www.katelundy.com.au/2009/05/29/public-sphere-2-open-government-policy-and-practice/> by Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner MP<http://www.aph.gov.au/house/members/member.asp?id=YU5> today. According to its website<http://gov2.net.au/about/>, the Taskforce will advise the government on "increasing the openness of government through making public sector information more widely available to promote transparency, innovation and value adding to government information" and "encouraging online engagement with the aim of drawing in the information, knowledge, perspectives, resources and even, where possible, the active collaboration of anyone wishing to contribute to public life."

There are a few names on the taskforce that might be familiar to CCers - including former CC General Counsel Mia Garlick and prominent Australian open access advocate, Seb Chan of the Powerhouse Museum<http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/>.
