I don't think people are fussing too seriously - most of the stuff I've seen seems to get Colbert's sense of humour, and understand that when he says 'don't ever, ever, ever' he might be being a bit tongue in cheek.
And we're definitely not planning to be on Rove anytime soon. I'd hate to be interviewed in a comedy situation. It's so hard to answer things in an intelligent and funny way when someone's throwing extremes at you.
I think Larry did a pretty good job, all things considered.

I take it that CC AU won't be pitching for a slot on Rove* then?
I can't understand what all the fuss is about. Of course Colbert won't take Lessig seriously - he's a comedian. I can't understand why someone as bright as Lessig didn't play along more - unless it is all part of some elaborate joke...

*Sadly Rove is not funny as Colbert. Just as Colbert parodies a opinionated right-wing idiot, may be Rove could parody a smug, ambitious populist desperate to make it big in the US.
