There are three upcoming events on the CCau calendar:

WORKSHOP
Creative commons classroom: using cc material as teaching tools
Part of Create World 2007 (http://auc.edu.au/tiki-index.php?
page=Create+World+2007)
Wednesday, 28 November, 10 - 11am

Speakers: Cat Hope, Edith Cowan University, Elliott Bledsoe, Creative
Commons Australia and Jessica Coates, Creative Commons Clinic

Creating is learning. But the copyright fear-campaign has left many
educators in the creative arts uncertain what they can use in their
courses. Enter Creative Commons, an open content licensing system
that grants world-wide prior permissions to use licensed material.
That's a whole swag of stuff for educators. Join Creative Commons
enthusiasts as they teach the teachers on how to use Creative Commons
while (attempting to) create a collaborative production using
whatever software is available (eg Garageband, iMovie, Pro Tools) and
CC licensed material in just an hour!

FORUM
CCau Music Industry Forum
Part of Create World 2007 (http://creativecommons.org.au/ccmusicforum)
Wednesday, 28 November, 2 - 4pm

It is designed to provide a forum for the discussion of issues
surrounding music licensing in Australia. The digital environment
presents new opportunities for musicians and new business models for
the distribution of music. Creative Commons licensing in particular
has gained considerable favour with content producers world-wide.
However the legalities and practicalities of releasing music under
these new models can be complicated, particularly when you wish to
combine them with more traditional collective licensing options (for
further information visit http://creativecommons.org.au/musicinfo).

CONFERENCE

Digital technologies and legal issues

Part of Vibewire's New Connections conference (http://
www.vibewire.org/newconnections/new-connections)

Friday, 30 November, for times check program

The growth of digital technology has opened up new possibilities for
the creation and distribution of information and art. This has the
potential to provide new opportunities for community sector
organisations, and to vastly open up their reach and productivity.
However, in order to reach this potential, a host of complex legal
issues must be navigated, not the least of which arise from the
management of content. This panel seeks to address some of these
issues including copyright and censorship.
