In this case, I think you must open your imagination a bit! <smile>
The two characters you cite above appear different system-wide (e.g., even in filenames) on "Windoze" XP computers using Uniscribe 1.0473.4067 as their rendering engine.
It seems that Mellel's Syriac language support is not quite "unparalleled"!
