[Biblical-languages] Text processing of Greek in a large batc
h of files

I've been exploring the encoding converts that Peter mentioned. It's a bit
daunting for a non-programmer, but I think I understand the principle now.
It appears that the only way to create a new .map file is to manually type
it in a text editor following the specified format. (I'd like to be wrong
and find that there was some system with a Windows (or Mac) interface that
simplified this...)
I've been studying the SILGreek.map file, and it looks to me as though
preparing the equivalent file for my Galilee font would be much simpler
since I haven't used the precomposed legacy characters that the SILGalatia
font did. If that's right, then the first major section of the .map file can
be deleted (it's pp. 1-11 of 15 as I printed it out--the "Pass(Byte)"
section which apparently decomposes these precomposed characters?).
I think I'd need to begin with the "Pass(Byte_Unicode)" section and
replace/reorganize any items which Galilee maps differently than Galatia.
(Does it make any difference whether I change the first or last column? Is
one or the other supposed to be in a particular order?) Then in the third
section, "Pass(Unicode)", it should be useable unchanged. The resulting file
then needs to be compiled into a .tec file (and there appear to be several
different utilities that do that).
Does this sound like I'm understanding the process correctly?

You will have to set up your own conversion table(s), but you can use
the supplied SIL Galatia one as a model which should make it fairly
simple. It would be very good if someone could start a collection of
conversion tables for common Greek (and other) legacy fonts.
