Believe it or not, the final-sigma behaviour is controlled by the MSWord2002 AutoFormat As You Type setting, Replace as you type: Ordinals (1st) with superscript.

I use the same software combination, with the exception of KeyMan (I use XP's keyboard layouts, modified by Keyboard Layout Manager: http://www.klm.freeservers.com/index.html)

Using: WinXP Pro, MSWord2002, Keyman 6.0, Unicode fonts (Cardo, but behavior is same for all Unicodes I've tried: TimesNewRoman, Gentium, Tahoma, Titus CyberBit)

Try this:
In MSWord, using the Greek keyboard, start a line and type any letter, then a sigma, then a iota, then an acute (or grave) accent.
In mine, the sigma always converts to a final sigma. WHY?
BUT
a) just typing sigma (ie, no letter preceding the sigma), iota, accent works fine
b) typing a second occurrence of any letter, sigma, iota, accent in the same line works fine
c) I can type the sequence just fine using Unicode in this email (>> a MSWord problem?)

Not a big deal, but it is an annoyance. (only a few words like εἰσίν, πλησίον, δυσί, ἐξουσία...)
Thanks for any help
Mark
