How is consonantal iota to be represented in Unicode? There is no character
for it in the Greek Extended range. (For samples, see Mounce, Basics of
Biblical Greek, 2d ed., 179; 1st ed., 165; or Smyth's Grammar, sect. 109.)
Mounce uses a pointed caret under the iota (much like 032D), whereas Smyth
uses a rounded mark (like 032F). (Smyth uses the terminology "semivowel,"
but I assume they are equivalent terms?)

Two related questions:

Are we to use 032D or 032F combined with iota (03B9) for such marks? (And if
so, which?)

In font design, are these two characters (032D, 032F) to be designed with a
negative left sidebearing so they overstrike the preceding character?
(Gentium apparently does this?) Or are they to be set with normal
sidebearings and the application left to superimpose them appropriately?
