I would appreciate knowing what wget can do better than links besides
reume download, so I can use its features. The help screen is cryptic.

I know, that is why Samir's ftp is nice.

I was not asking to leave it out, just to somehow provide correct
instructions. Maybe as a man page? I am now using it all the time, with
remote-dir instead of remote-file. I have a script, and I can type put
filename. Actually one script per remote directory. No need to enter
password each time. I can't use links or wget to replace ftpput.
I am also using ftpget (which I compiled) instead of links and wget.
You don't need all three of those.

And do long transfers to hard disk?

Can you download multiple files with one command?
Can it list files in a directory like links or ftp?
I would like to understand how it works.

Other than resumed download, what should I be using it for that links does
not do?

I use ftpput much more than wget.

I don't recall why not. There is space on disk 2 so I can add it, along
with vfat.o .

list contents of multiple remote directories

I type mdir and get
(remote files)

I then type ls and get
(local file)
mdir
output to local file: mdir? y
it transferred something.
I now have a file mdir:
ftpd: ls: no such file or directory

As I said, the instructions are cryptic. I should find a man page for
some other ftp program.
